quilts are unique and made to commission, although I do have a few which are available to buy direct from my studio.
block printing and occasionally stencils are used to create pattern. The process is slow and with the blocks lined up to repeat the design, and created with rhythm of pressure and paste. Always slightly inconsistent as all the fabric is naturally dyed and printed by hand.
I dye solely with colour from nature, weld, woad, oak, walnut as well as other seasonal woods and weeds. This seasonality provides further variety to the pattern.
I mix up hemp and linen with vintage textiles and quilt with boiled wool blankets to finally stitch and bind the quilt which can be displayed as a wall-hanging or with care, as a quilt.
(please indicate the final use so this can be considered with fabric and colour choice. Due to the nature of a quilt being made of multiple colours they can run a little when washing so this needs to be avoided if the quilt will be washed)
Price for hand stitched and dyed wall hangings/quilts start at approximately £400 per 1m x 1m.
